The Highclere Collection
Where English Heritage Meets Modern Comfort
Inspired by the enduring character of Highclere Castle, The Highclere Collection brings together thoughtful craftsmanship, refined materials and modern support for a more considered night’s rest.
Inspired by a Living English Heritage
Highclere Castle is more than a landmark. It is a home.
Since 1679, Highclere Castle has been home to the Carnarvon family. Today it is still the private home of the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon, set at the heart of a working estate of some 5,000 acres in the North Wessex Downs. The Highclere Collection was not designed around a picture of a castle. It was designed around what makes Highclere a home: a tradition of welcome, an eye for composition, and land that still gives something you can hold in your hand.
A tradition of welcome
Highclere has always been a house that looks after the people inside it. For generations, its rooms have welcomed guests. In the First World War it became a hospital for wounded soldiers; in the Second, a home for children evacuated from London. That instinct, comfort as a form of care, is where every Highclere mattress begins.
Structure, softened by landscape
In 1771, Capability Brown shaped the parkland into an arcadian sweep of open lawns, cedars and long views, with follies set to frame them. In 1842, Sir Charles Barry, architect of the Houses of Parliament, transformed the house into the Castle that stands today. Order and proportion, softened by landscape: it is the balance the collection brings to the bedroom, with considered support beneath and comfort composed layer by layer above.
Wool with an address
Highclere is a working farm as well as a home. Romney and Lleyn crosses graze its downland pasture, and wool shorn from the flock raised on the Castle grounds is layered into the Wessex & Hampshire, Limited Edition and Gold collections. It breathes, it softens, and it carries an English landscape into the bed itself. Most heritage stories stay on the label. This one is in the layers.

American Craftmanship
English inspiration. American craftsmanship.
The estate is English. The mattresses are made in the United States by people who tailor, layer and finish them every day, and who hand tuft the Wessex & Hampshire flagship from top to bottom. Some materials travel to meet them: Highclere Estate wool from the Castle grounds and, in the flagship, a damask woven in Belgium. The comfort itself is assembled here, close to home.
Belgian damask, selected for feel as much as appearance.
Woven with fine spun viscose yarn, the Belgian damask surface combines a soft, breathable hand with high yarn density and subtle luster. A silk finishing process adds another degree of softness to the tailored surface.

For Retailers
A story your sales floor can tell in a sentence.
Highclere gives your floor a story with real proof behind it: a real place, a family home since 1679 and, in three of its four collections, wool from its own land that shoppers can touch. The collection is officially licensed from Highclere Castle, built in the United States and arranged as a clear progression, from the hand tufted Wessex & Hampshire flagship through Limited Edition and Gold to Follies, so every step between them is a conversation about materials and feel, never about compromise.
“Highclere is inspired by a real English castle that has been one family’s home since 1679. In our Wessex & Hampshire, Limited Edition and Gold beds, you re sleeping on wool from sheep raised on its grounds.”
